When the F150 4 strokes first became available (around 2005) there was a problem where Yamaha put a counter weight in them to reduce vibration (these are 4 cylinder engines). These counter weights would come loose thus requiring an update. My understanding is that there was a noticeable whistling noise at idle when these counter weights would start to fail.. I’ve never heard of anything problem since i bought this one from Easy Outboard Website

This motor has been great with two exceptions. One is they came with a plastic trim sender that cracks that is now replaced by a newer part made of metal. When they broke, your trim gauge would not read correctly until this part was replaced. Not a biggie. This is a relatively cheap fix of $15 or so dollars. The second is the counter balancer assembly, which the poster above describes. I will keep on buy this motor all over again despite these two common issues.

After Ordering the F150 outboard from Easy Outboard website , i now realize that the F150 is of course a different animal when it come to Outboard Engine. Virtually quiet at idle, no smoke, no hard starting, and fuel efficient. I have said before the two best best built 4 stroke motors Yamaha has ever made is the F250 and F150. But if the price is right on the VMAx 150 don’t let it stop you. May get in your wallet a little if you run it a lot but it won’t disappoint on power.

Guaranteed to be fixed if it breaks but I don’t think it gonna break lol. This thing a beast. I will always honour their warranty and I love em. So many options for service I was like “wow”. I got exactly what I want and never had to complain. Very happy and will return. Don’t get me started on performance. It is outstanding great and top-notch.

Ran well, no issues, reliable engine. Handled the boating season well, limited maintenance. Has a variety of engine sizes for all watercraft. Had a 5-year warranty and stands by its guarantee. I had no major issues and did not need to use the warranty but was happy to know it was available. They stand by this warranty and any work needed under this contract would be fully covered by the warranty. Have assurance that you are covered in case of problems. I had no issues or problems in the years that I owned this product.
